Optron Systems’ membrane mirror technology is based upon a diffractive phase grating. Using electrostatic actuation, the membrane mirror surface is deformed in a regular manner, creating a variable depth phase grating. The key to this technology is a carefully controlled manufacturing process that enables contrast ratios exceeding 1000:1, while able to tolerate high optical power.
